Google have confirmed their smart speaker Google Home will launch in the UK this April.
The AI device, much like Amazon’s Alexa, will respond to voice command to answer simple questions, play music, control compatible smart devices and offer useful updates on weather and traffic updates.
The advanced voice-recognition technology aims to make interaction with the device easier and more natural.
“Ask Google Home a question, and it will give you the answer by tapping into the power of Google—Search, Maps, Translate and more,” says Google’s director of product planning Suveer Kothari, via the company’s blog. “A combination of our natural language processing, machine learning and voice recognition expertise allow users to interact naturally with the Assistant on Google Home”
Google also announced they would be launching their own wi-fi service in the UK, in response to ‘frustration’ with drops in connectivity at home and the growing number of smart devices and bandwidth-hungry activities.
