After teasing the news all week, Ubisoft have released a new trailer for Far Cry 5. The short clip, which you can watch below, gives us our first cinematic glimpse at the upcoming game.
The brand new story will follow a deputy sheriff in Hope County, Montana, where a violent cult has risen up against the US government and seized control of the region. Believing organised society as we know it is on the verge of collapse, the cult’s leader Joseph and his family lead a following against the US Marshal Service.
“Welcome to Hope County, Montana. When your arrival incites the cult to violently seize control of the region, you must rise up and spark the fires of resistance to liberate a besieged community,” Ubisoft stated.
“Freely explore Hope County’s rivers, lands, and skies with the largest customizable weapon and vehicle roster ever in a Far Cry game. You are the hero of the story in a thrilling world that hits back with every punch, and where the places you discover and the locals you ally with will shape your story in ways you’ll never see coming.”
This comes days after we saw game’s stunning cover art of a Last-Supper-esque scene with the game’s antagonist Joseph in centre frame.
The game is set for release February 2018, and we look forward to seeing more of this stylish, politically charged world.
